You must admit, one of the wonderful things about summer- on the list of about a million! – is the option of wearing a single item piece – i.e. the dress.
Paired with great shoes and a handbag and accessorized at will, the dress allows us the ability to be ready in no time for a day at the office, lunch with our favorite friends or for a shopping trip around town.
It also works when planning a night out of dinner and drinks – and for many – perhaps dancing.
The perfect dress for all these activities and events is the Shirt Dress. A favorite of many designers and always in their collections, the Shirt Dress is a must have in every closet.
We love the ability to wear this dress from day to night as well. It can look casual with flats and big handbag for the day and then sassed up a bit with some heels and a great clutch for evening. All without looking overdone.
Edun’s Zimba Dress is a great combination of silks with some amazing shoulder details.
Want more color? Check out the Haute Hippie Dolman Shirtdress in Tomato!
The Shirt Dress is the easiest dress to add to your wardrobe and even easier to wear.

An effortless style is never really . . . “effortless”, however, we can make it seem that way.
One look we love this season is the colorful dress with the bold accessory. It is easy, chic and looks effortlessly unexpected. Whether you choose a belt, scarf or handbag, all these pieces can turn your simple piece into something even more stylish.
Effortless Glamour: We love the look of a bright dress with a studded belt. Shoshanna is known for her great style and her summer dresses do not disappoint. You can always find a Streets Ahead belt to add the touch of glamour.

Effortless Neutral: Or maybe you’d like to try a neutral color dress with a bright scarf. The scarf is still on track to being one of the most popular trends this season. Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent always accomplishes the most beautiful neutrals without being boring. We love the Shawlsmith London choices of scarf colors too, but you can never go wrong with Graham & Spencer.

Effortless Cool: A bold handbag can take the most simple style dress (or any item) to a new level of cool. A white dress with a colorful, unexpected bag can certainly make a statement. Foley + Corinna took the tie dye trend and did is amazingly well in their signature Mid City Tote.

- Clean, Crisp Style
There is just a simple, clean aethestic about our Nation’s colors and patriotic spirit. Not too bright, not drab, but the perfect combination of neutrals and brights. If you have been following our blog and our website then you know how fond we are about pairing a simple, neutral piece back to a bright, bold piece. For us, this combination just screams chic, polished, and effortlessly pulled together.
Just like all well-versed buyers we dedicate hours during the week reading up on our style “bibles” (Elle, Vogue, W, and Harper’s Bazaar), hunting out the latest trends, up and coming designers, and to check out who was seen in what. There is simply no denying that these publications are also very focused on writing about our new First Family.
No other President and his family have been photographed so heavily for fashion magazines, since the Kennedy’s, as the Obama family has been, and figuring out what Michelle Obama is wearing is just as important to America’s fashion followers as trying to figure out what
Angelina Jolie

American Chic Goes Girly
is wearing. Therefore, it is no surprise to me that red, white, and blue are making such a huge comeback for Spring/Summer Fashion Trends of 2009. Our patriotic, fashion appeal is directly correlated with our new found obsession of following the new First Family’s life & style, especially our First Lady.
However, this new take on red, white, and blue is completely different than the days of sailor pants, denim skirts, and crisp, white polo’s. Michelle Obama’s fashion forward yet polished take on her own style is helping to mold and recreate the interpretation of putting our Nation’s colors together in a very chic, very polished, and non-folksy way. We have decided to compile our own take on this trend with a new
look book titled “American Chic,” creating looks centered around incorporating red, white, and blue into other huge trends of the season (
destroyed denim,
colored denim,
floral prints, and
bright, bold dresses).

Simply elegant, extremely timeless, and worth every penny is Edun’s Zimba Wrap dress from their Spring/Summer 2009 collection. As every “in the know” fashaholic knows, DvF made this simple silhouette an international celebrity and Edun’s modern interpretation is simple, sleek, and polished! We view this piece as a blank canvas that can be accessorized to portray any individual style and a piece that can be worn to any event.
Street chic: Throw on a Me & Kashmiere scarf, Pour La Victoire’s Blanche, the Street’s Ahead Roger Belt, and a Foley & Corinna Mid-City Tote
Office Appropriate: Wear some black opaque tights to transition into Spring, Twelfth Street’s Seema or Allison Bootie, and a Splendid Flare Cardi
Date Night Essential: Throw it on with Pour La Victoire’s Tatienne Heel, accessorize with a fun, navy waist belt, and Gorjana’s Ludlow Earring
Pictured below: Edun’s Zimba Wrap Dress available at www.shopchantal.com and Angelina Jolie wearing a longer version of this essential style!

Celebrities, Models, Rockers: All are carrying on the trend with some new styles and patterns in colorful plaid.
And it’s not just the men, Women are joining in with their take on how plaid can be feminine as well as masculine.
We’re seeing the plaid shirt paired with slouchy denim and fabulous belts. A great wrap scarf is the finishing touch along with a feminine bag.
The men are sticking with the classic styles: button up shirts, shorts and jackets from Penguin are tops on the list. Subtle plaids with a bright, bold color thrown in for some style.
We love the classic Joie Fara top paired with the new Current/Elliott Rolled Shorts, Foley + Corinna Mid City Tote in Cherry and the Rebecca Taylor Runway booties.

This has been the best season to pick up accessories. I am so in love with all the great accessories to pick from that we did a “accessory spotlight” in our lookbook just to show you how many we have to choose from this season.

Pour La Victoire Bianca Bootie
Fabulous scarves, hats and gloves, booties, handbags and jewelry have all taken it up a notch with the addition of great fabrics, colors and textures. And, of course, as many of you know I can never have too many belts. I am obsessed and always have been. This is my year. Belts are hot and we have the best selection from waist belts to skinny trouser belts to studded jean belts.
My favorite accessories so far have been the Foley & Corrina Glazed Mid City Clutch in blue and the new Pour La Victoire Bianca cut out bootie sandal and I live in my Streets Ahead Roger belt (or as we call it “sex and the city” belt). Pair this all with a little Generra dress and some Rebecca Taylor tights and I’m ready to go.
