Josie Maran 100% Argan Oil

Josie Maran 100% Argan Oil

I’m the first to say “everything happens for a reason” and I believe it even when it comes to life, work and my continued search for things to make my life better.

Finding the perfect beauty product line is on this list. As is finding, the perfect black pump with only 1 left in your size, a designer vintage handbag priced a “non-designer handbag price” and the perfect pair of jeans that make your legs look 3″ longer than they really are.

This particular day of “fate-in-my-favor” has to do with beauty versus my typical clothing want… errr, need. I had just finished my current face oil, moisturizer and even foundation. This trifecta depletion was highly anticipated because I knew I wanted to start a solid, new facial routine with Josie Maran Argan Oil products.

My dear friend had shared her Josie Maran Argan Oil Matchmaker Serum Foundation and it was love at first application. I knew right away I had to try more.

Was it a coincidence or luck that the same day I went into my local Sephora, they had just received their shipment of the full Josie Maran line. It wasn’t even out on the floor, but they helped me figure out exactly what I wanted and after 4 days, I’m once again totally obsessed and can’t wait to add even more of her products to my beauty closet.

So, what exactly is Argan Oil?

Argan Oil is an all-natural, 100% organic and chemical-free. It is an incredibly rich source of Vitamin E and essential fatty acids. with astonishing healing, conditioning and anti-aging properties to keep your skin and hair nourished and revitalized. Produced from the Argan tree in semi-deserts of Morocco, Argan Oil has been used by Moroccan women for centuries for it’s nutritional and cosmetic benefits.

In addition to including 100% pure and organic argan oil as it’s own product in her line, Maran also infuses Argan Oil within her products so you get all its benefits along with pure, gorgeous color.

With generations of women, research results, environmental consciousness, and social and economic welfare all supporting this line, you have so many reasons to give it a try. Let me know if you already love it or if you think you are going to give it a try. I’d love to hear what you think.

Josie Maran is available on her website as well as on Sephora.com and in Sephora stores. Oh, and if you are a Marie Claire subscriber, be sure to check out the amazing collaboration between Josie Maran, Sephora and Marie Claire. It’s an amazing deal.

Neutral Prints + Missoni x Target Final Look

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

I couldn’t resist this totally soft and great fitting Missoni x Target Tee.  At the time, I think I was the only one buying it because the rack was full when I left, but that’s just fine with me.

I kept thinking about all the bright colors I could layer under (Vanessa Bruno Turtleneck) and over (schoolboy blazer in cobalt) this graphic tee.  And don’t even get me started on the wide legged, red trousers from Zara that I’ve been obsessing over and can’t wait to wear. Are you loving that we can order online from them now?  I am.

Here I paired some Red, Black and Camel checked trousers to show how you can wear not only another print (or texture) with a graphic print, but also to show how neutral prints can make a statement. The Streets Ahead belt is a beautiful perforated leather and is great for giving a more boxy cut a bit more shape.

The addition of a camel Foley & Corinna slouch bag adds a softness to the look.  I’d also have no problem adding a bright, studded Envelope Clutch from Asos to this look, or this Shopper by Marni in a bold yellow.

Have fun mixing your prints and remember, your look can be just as beautiful and powerful in neutral tones. I suggest a bright lipstick or nail color if you want to add a bright to your neutral mix.

Today’s Hair “Do”: Free-Form Braids

Thursday, September 8th, 2011

Photo via BellaSugar.com

I’m fascinated by those girls that can do their own french braids. I never learned so I am always on the lookout for ways to do a traditional braiding technique in a unexpected and usual way.

When I saw this free-form, braided up-do on Jennifer Morrison (courtesy of BellaSugar via Twitter), I was certain I could do it and am planning my attempt. In other words, I am off to buy more bobbypins; if I had a penny for everyone of those I have lost over the years…..

Here is how they described how to do this fabulous, braided Up-do and what I will be using to get the look.

  • Start by prepping the hair with a shine - I love Redken Shine Flash 02 Glisten Spray from my recent Birchbox - and body-enhancing product – I use a volumizing spray from Oscar Blandi (P.S. I love his Jasmine Oil hair serum too).
  • Next, using a medium-barreled curling iron, curl the entire head of hair, focusing the wave a few inches below the root. This Amika Triple Barrel  from Sephora.com is a dream!
  • When finished, create a side part, and then part the hair from front to back, leaving layers out to frame the face.  I think I’ll be doing a center part because of my short bangs and to give a little bit more of an edgy look.
  • To finish, section off around six or so pieces from the back. What you do next is up to you. Loosely braid the outer strands (the sections closest to your ears) and pin towards the center to secure; roll or twist other sections upwards or downwards, allowing some of the curl to pop out. Have fun with it and get creative, focusing on forming a beautiful shape.

Let me know if you give it a try and send me a photo too.  I’d love to hear about any new braiding tips as well.  I just love the look and can’t wait to have some fun with this new on trend look.

Scent Obsession: Elie Saab Le Parfum

Sample page of Elie Saab La Parfum from Vogue September 2011
Sample page of Elie Saab La Parfum from Vogue September 2011

To some of you it may seem strange that I am writing about a new perfume, but that is what my new blog is all about; exploring and chatting about more than just fashion.

And this is the perfect place to start. If you know me (and after this post, you will) you know that my scent collection is vast.  I choose my scent every morning with as much care as my shoes and lipstick because I think it is as important as how you look.

I have a list of “must-have” perfumes that I’ve been slowly adding to my collection, but no scent has affected me so quickly as the new Elie Saab scent. Simply named “Le Parfum” it has no perceived notions or ulterior motives that can come with a name. The scent is also not presumptuous.

This flowery, woody yet ultra – feminine, scent has notes of Orange Blossom with Jasmine with the base consisting of Cedar, Patchouli and Rose Honey. It is bottled in a Baroque style glass bottle that is a statement on it’s own.

This is the first fragrance from Elie Saab, a Lebanese haute couture designer know for his beautiful gowns worn by celebrities such as Halle Berry, Beyonce and Blake Lively

The campaign in the September 2011 issue of Vogue, where I was first introduced to the fragrance, features famous model Anja Rubik and it is stunning.  Le Parfum is availabe at Nordstrom and at Saks Fifth Avenue where online they have a beautiful video with Saab and Rubik.  Le Parfum is available in two sizes 1.6 oz and 3 oz.  An accompanying collection includes body lotion and body cream.

According to both online stores, this fragrance is in high demand.  Yes, mine is already ordered.

Stay tuned for my new personal blog: Faux Fur in the Land of Fleece

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

For the last 10 years I have been inspired to share my obsession for fashion with everyone I know.  It started out when I was a little girl and over the years it developed into admiration, respect and eventually into a career.

This blog will be a continuation of my fashion obsessions, but will focus more on “what to wear” and “what I’m wearing now”.  It will still be shopchantalstylefile but with a personal twist.  This new blog will have a focus on me being “Faux Fur in the land of Fleece”. My style is not typical Maine and I like my style and don’t want to change so, I will be talking about developing and embracing your personal style even if you love to wear faux fur and everyone is wearing fleece. Or vice versa.

I will always have pieces I will pull from my huge closet – I call it my archive – but now I have the opportunity to shop all the new places popping up in our fabulous seaside town of Portland Maine. Oh, and lest us not forget the amazing online shopping and yes, even the mall. Gah!

I’ll be talking not only about fashion but also beauty, home & garden and probably some mommy topics as well.

As I move into the next phase of my professional life, I still have this deep admiration and respect for the fashion industry and it will always be a part of who I am.

I hope you enjoy this new focus that will be mostly about my personal style and about the world around me. You will see the transition of the blog over the coming weeks as it changes from the e-commerce blog site of chantal. and shopchantal.com to the new personal blog by me, Chantal Young.

Stay tuned and I look forward to your comments about this new chapter and focus. And don’t forget to sign up to receive the blog via email and RSSFeed.  Our facebook will also now be shopchantalstylefile fan page where we will share and chat with all of you about a variety of things including fashion, beauty, home design and so much more. And don’t forget to follow me on Twitter too: Shopchantal

I look forward to connecting with you all:)
